Projects

Projects:

  • Community Finance & Local Investing
    • As Executive Director of the National Coalition for Community Capital, I built a network of organizations and individuals dedicated expanding community-based finance. These models, which include local securities offerings and intrastate investment crowdfunding, connect local investors with local businesses to build community wealth. This work grew out of my Capstone for the Bard MBA, which was conducted in collaboration with the American Independent Business Alliance. Learn more.
    • Served as the Communications Director of the North Carolina chapter of Slow Money from 2012-2014. Slow Money NC is a peer-to-peer lending network dedicated to financing local farms and food businesses throughout the state.
    • Co-created Funds to Farms, an innovative, crowdfunded micro-grant series for local farms and food businesses in North Carolina from 2013-2014, in collaboration with the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association and Slow Money NC.
  • Sustainable Finance & Economic Development
    • Founded and led Sustain-a-Bull, a shop-local program in Durham, NC from 2010-2014, which worked to promote over 150 local businesses.

  • Podcasts & Other Appearances
    • I am an alumna of the Bard MBA in Sustainability, where I studied how to lead organizations that value people and our planet while also earning profits. Check out their student-led podcast series, The Impact Report, for interviews of sustainability heroes conducted by current and past students (including me!).
    • I also recently appeared in an episode of one of my favorite podcasts, The Broad Experience, talking about how to deal with rejection in the workplace. Listen here.
